Etna Rosso "Contrada Dafara Galluzzo" 2018 Benanti
Etna Rosso "Contrada Dafara Galluzzo" is a Sicilian wine from the Benanti winery, produced from the indigenous Nerello Mascalese vine vinified in purity. The vines, grown as alberello vines, grow on volcanic-sandy soil in the contrada of the same name on the northern slope of the volcano, in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia at an altitude of 750 metres. The mountain climate offers a wide temperature range and a high ventilation, which allows to obtain healthy and perfectly ripe grapes.
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with three weeks' maceration on the skins using only indigenous yeasts selected in the vineyard by the Benanti company. The wine matures in French oak tonneaux for 12 months and then in steel before being bottled for a further 10 months.
The Benanti "Contrada Dafara Galluzzo" has a brilliant ruby red colour in the glass, and an ethereal, spicy nose with hints of red fruit. The palate is dry, full, tannic, persistent and harmonious. A versatile wine particularly suitable for red meats, game and mature cheeses.
