Marsannay Clos Du Roy 2018 Sylvain Pataille

Marsannay Clos Du Roy 2018 is a natural Burgundy wine produced by Sylvain Pataille. This Marsannay was born from the most famous climat of the Clos du Roy municipality, located north of the appellation, at the gates of Dijon, and grows on a limestone clay terroir, from vineyards between 15 and 60 years old. Vinification follows the principles of biodynamic agriculture without the use of chemicals or sulphites. 50% of the fermentation takes place in whole bunches in steel and fiberglass containers, while the refinement lasts for a minimum of two years in old wood, and light filtration before bottling. Marsannay Clos Du Roy by Pataille is bright ruby ​​red with purple reflections; it expresses a complex nose of fruit and spices, while in the mouth it is powerful with a well-present tannin which suggests the great aging potential this wine has.

Domaine Sylvian Pataille is located in Marsannay and has become a real reference in the field of natural viticulture in Burgundy. Sylvain has always been against the principles of standardised wine, seeking to obtain, through biodynamic methods, bottles that authentically reflect the terroir of origin. Sylvain's winemaking philosophy is entirely natural: indigenous yeasts, no chemicals and maximum fermentation temperatures of around 32°C. Winemaking is carried out in stainless steel and fibreglass before going into barrel, ageing is very slow and no sulphur is used. In this way Pataille gives life to authentic and pure wines.
