Sancerre Blanc Les Amoureuses Francois Crochet
Sancerre Blanc Les Amoureuses is a fine wine from the Loire Valley, produced naturally by Domaine Francois Crochet. It is made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc grapes from three different sites within Bué, a municipality in the western area of Sancerre. Les Amoureuses is a mixture of three different parcels with a heavier clay loam than any other parcel in its collection. The name "Les Amoureuses" ("lovers") was given to the wine because of how the rich clay soil clings to the boots when the soil is also only slightly wet. The clay-rich soil makes Les Amoureuses the most powerful and generous label in the range of Sancerre white wines based on Sauvignon Blanc. It is fermented in steel vats and aged in a large 20 liter French oak barrel, because wines made from heavy clay soils benefit most from the effect of the wood. Sancerre Blanc Les Amoureuses is a strongly mineral wine in the nose and mouth and, as already mentioned, is the most powerful and structured of the Crochet range.
