Barolo "Gavarini Chiniera" 2012 Elio Grasso
Barolo "Gavarini Chiniera" 2012 is a fine wine from Piedmont produced by Elio Grasso. The grapes come from the cru of the same name, which comprises just 3 hectares situated on a hillside at an altitude of around 350 metres, facing south on calcareous-sandy soil. The area of Monforte is renowned and, thanks to the good exposure and the characteristics of the terroir, is capable of giving the wines great aromatic finesse, structure, elegance and longevity.
Elio Grasso has always chosen to produce all his wines by vinifying the grapes from each individual vineyard separately and, as far as ageing is concerned, to blend tradition (large Slavonian oak barrels) and modernity (French oak barriques) to give life to unique labels capable of ageing up to 15-20 years.
This Barolo Gavarini Chiniera 2012 has an intense garnet red colour with orange highlights. The nose is intense and complex, with fruity aromas of cloves and blueberries, and hints of black pepper. In the mouth it is powerful and full-bodied, harmonious and refined, with soft tannins and a great predisposition to ageing.
