Etna Bianco Contrada Calderara 2018 Cottanera
Etna Bianco Contrada Calderara 2018 is a Sicilian white wine produced by the Cottanera winery. It is made only from Carricante grapes, a grape that is practically impossible to grow outside this area, which in the case of this bottle come from 45 year old vines in Contrada Calderara, located at an altitude of about 750m above sea level, which guarantees freshness and considerable temperature differences between day and night, giving the wine great elegance and a propensity to age.
The composition of the alluvial soil is also capable of producing unique wines with a very special aromatic profile and typical mineral scents. The Etna Bianco Contrada Calderara 2018 follows very precise vinification processes, such as cryomaceration for 24 hours, static decantation, fermentation in French oak tonneaux for 40% and in cement tanks for 60%. Finally, the wine matures for 12 months on the fine lees in tonneaux for 40% and in cement tanks for 60%.
This marvellous Sicilian white wine shows in the glass a beautiful bright straw colour; the nose offers a complex and territorial bouquet of mineral nuances and notes of sweet spices, flowers and white-fleshed fruit. The taste is well structured, enveloping and balanced, long. It is a wine that is well suited to ageing.
