"Pigro delle Sorbe" Greco IGT Umbria 2018 Collecapretta
"Pigro delle Sorbe" is an Umbrian white wine produced with Greco grapes by Collecapretta winery. The winery of the Mattioli family is located at the top of Martani Mountains, 500 meters above sea level and it is there that their wines are born, since ever the philosophy is to produce natural wines that tell at best the terroir of Spoleto, minimal interventions in the vineyard, spontaneous fermentations and zero filtrations are at the base of their work and of their wines.
Collecapretta "Pigro delle Sorbe" is produced with 100% Greco grapes cultivated in the hills of Spoleto with espalier training according to Umbrian tradition. The cultivation of vines is done according to lunar cycles with the utmost respect for nature, no chemical interventions are done, the earth is occasionally helped only with fertilizers obtained by the animals of the winery. During vinification only indigenous yeasts from the grapes and from the cellar are used, fermentation is spontaneous and takes place in large open vats with no temperature control while the wine is aged for 8 months in fiberglass. No filtration is done.
In the glass Pigro delle Sorbe has a beautiful straw yellow color, the nose reveals warm and refined aromas of tropical fruit and yellow flowers, in the mouth is a full bodied wine with a wonderful combination of fatness and acidity supported by a nice sapid verve. It is a natural wine already ready but capable of expressing the best of itself in a couple of years.
