Saumur Rouge Les Arboises Monopole Brézé 2014 Domaine Guiberteau
Saumur Rouge Les Arboises Monopole Brézé is an excellent French wine from the Loire Valley produced by Domaine Guiberteau. The grapes come from the renowned Monopole vineyard of just one hectare planted in Les Arboises on the hill of Brézé. The vines were planted in 1957, with a southern exposure, sandy soils and silts over limestone.
The wine is made according to the principles of organic farming, without the use of sulphites or other chemicals, and each stage of production is followed with extreme care: the grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected in the vineyard, after 100% destemming, maceration takes place, lasting from 10 days to 4 weeks in cement tanks, and spontaneous fermentation using only indigenous yeasts. Finally, the wine is aged for 18 months in 80% new barrels, while 20% are one year old.
Bright ruby red in colour, the 2014 Saumur Rouge Les Arboises Monopole Brézé by Guiberteau expresses multifaceted and characteristic scents on the nose, such as the typical hint of green pepper, together with other spices, tangerine peel that gives a nice freshness, and then cola and roasted hints of coffee and cocoa. The sip is enveloping, full-bodied and tasty, with a long, savoury finish.
